VISA
Applications for student visa's may now be made locally, provided the country of origin is a gazetted country. The visa is subject to a medical check at DIAC. If a visa is cancelled a bridging visa will be issued until the student leaves the country.
Accompanying Dependents
Students who are enrolled in courses of more than 12 months duration, and who satisfy certain other requirements may apply for their dependents to join them in Australia.
N.B. There are some lengthy delays in processing these applications and the Overseas Post cannot process an application unless the spouse has a valid passport.
Work & Tax
There are no automatic work rights with a student visa. To gain a work permit a student must apply for a work permit ($50.00 fee) after studies have commenced. A letter of confirmation from Harvest West Bible College is needed.
New Zealand Citizens
New Zealand citizens wishing to study in Australia should apply to study courses in the same manner as Australian citizens.
