Admission Application or Selection Policy
The Policy
To provide a process of student selection this gives equal opportunities and benefits of assistance to all persons seeking to enrol with Harvest West Bible College. Every student entering Harvest West is required to undergo and interview.
As Harvest West seeks to train ministers, missionaries and Christian workers, it is necessary that applicants demonstrate a genuine New Testament faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour; exhibit a consistent Christian lifestyle and express a recognition of the call of God on their lives.
Procedure
1.0 Requirement to Make an Application for Admission
1.1 Before enrolling in a course of study, a person must make an application to be admitted into that course of study. This requirement does not apply to re-enrolling students, or students re-enrolling after an approved leave of absence.
1.2 The Registrar shall publish detailed application procedures.
1.3 Any relevant application fee shall be published.
2.0 Eligibility for Admission
2.1 Every student is required to undergo an interview which is designed to:
2.1.1 Ensure the student is aware of procedures pertaining to their enrolment with Harvest West Bible College. This allows each applicant to ask any questions they may have regarding their admission into the College and any other relevant questions,
2.1.2 Ensure the applicant is aware of issues such as Mutual Recognition (Transfer of Credit) and Recognition of Prior Learning.
2.2 Only eligible applicants can be admitted into a degree, diploma or certificate course.
2.2.1 A committee appointed by the Principal shall determine the basis on which an applicant is considered eligible for admission to an undergraduate course.
2.2.2 The relevant Academic Committee shall determine the basis on which an applicant is considered eligible for admission to a postgraduate degree course.
2.3 Eligibility may be conditional upon:
2.3.1 Completion of appropriate studies prior to enrolment.(e.g.: Year 12 TEE, Certificate IV, etc)
2.3.2 Provision of further proof of appropriate academic ability prior to enrolment. (e.g.: Mature age entry, life experience, etc).
2.3.3 The student enrolling for a probationary period, where certain outcomes are required (for example, completion of certain units).
2.4 Eligibility is separate from selection. An eligible applicant is not guaranteed a place in a course.
2.5 The Academic Committee may refuse admission, disqualify an applicant, should the applicant provide any information that is false or misleading, or not meet the specified conditions.
3.0 Selection of Applicants into a Course of Study
3.1 Eligible applications are selected from meeting the Spiritual scope as detailed in the prospectus.
3.2 Notwithstanding section 3.1 (above) the relevant Academic Committee may take into account any special circumstances that may have educationally disadvantaged a particular applicant provided any such decision:
3.2.1 Is supported, where applicable, by documentary evidence; and
3.2.2 Is made in consultation with the Principal.
3.3 Applicants are selected into the relevant course,
3.3.1 The course quota (if any) is filled.
3.4 The relevant Academic Committee makes the final decision on who is selected into a course, provided that their decision in consistent with these requirements.
4.0 Admission into a Course of Study
4.1 An applicant must first fulfil the requirements of sections 3 and 4 before being admitted into a course of study.
4.2 An applicant must be made a formal offer before being admitted into a course.
4.3 Offers shall only be made by the Registrar or as prescribed by the Registrar.
4.4 The College can refuse or revoke an applicant’s admission into a course of study if the applicant provides any information that is false or misleading.
5.0 Registration and Policy Procedure
Once the applicant is accepted as a student of the College they are given an Enrolment Form to be completed.
