Graduation 2007/Commencement 2008
Graduation 2007 / Commencement 2008
Graduation / Commencement has come and gone. It was quite a night with an awesome guest speaker and a brilliant turnout. The ceremony was held at Northway Christian Centre in Girrawheen. The weather was cool and refreshing with the breeze.
The afternoon kicked off at 4pm for the graduates and other students. The graduates had rehearsal while the other students helped set up. Rehearsal was followed up by a quick supper, afterwhich the graduates rushed to get ready for the photos at 5:30. Friends and family started arriving at 6pm with nibblies and drinks being served.
The ceremony started at 7pm with some great worship from the music team at Northway. The worship was followed up by the Principal's report from our leader, Ashley Crane. Our keynote speaker, Dr. John McElroy, gave an awesome message on life after College. Straight after Dr. John, the first most important part of the evening commenced...Graduation for the Students of 2007.
Each graduate name was called out, along with their biography, to much cheering, shouting and clapping. Each graduate was honoured for the hard work that they had put into their award.
Presentation to the Dux came next. The Dux is the student who has the highest Grade Point Average at the end of their award. Natalie Bock was named the Vocational Dux, followed by Geoffrey Bedells as the Higher Education Dux. Well done to the both of them!
Ashley followed all the presentations up with more presentations! The College wished to celebrate and honour the people who had made significant contributions to the College. The first was Alan Dulwich. Alan contributed a huge amount of time (even though he is retired) during 2007 helping the College with the finances. Northway Christian Centre was presented with a plaque thanking them for donating their building to the College for the Graduation ceremonies and for releasing Dean Evenson to build our new Prayer/Study room and stairs to the mezzanine level. Ashley also hinted at getting Dean back for further construction work. Joe Rossi was thanked for all the time and energy he has put into the Youth Alive Internship. Kirsty Bushney was honoured for all the work she did as the Head Student in 2007. Finally, Barbara Aramowicz was honoured for all the work she did last year in the Finance Department.
Now was the time for the second most important part of the evening...new students commencing their studies. This was a time of prayer and celebration of the step these students had taken for this year.
Finally, the evening ending with a offering being taken up for the College and a Charge and a prayer for the Graduates. The ceremony finish at around 9pm...a whole 30 minutes early!
Overall the night was a great night with much positive feedback. The serving students did a great job this year and had the church cleaned up for the Sunday Service in no time! The College wishes to thank all the students who served on the night (even those graduating students who couldn't help themselves!). You all did a brilliant job!
Photos of the night are now available for the Graduated students. Please contact the College on 9479 3443 if you wish copies. A copy of the disc has been sent to all attending graduates.
